| 26 | Pre-Hospital TXA & Point-of-Care Ultrasound for EMS
Join us in | 26 | as we discuss three studies that cover the topics of pre-hospital TXA administration, and the use of point-of-care ultrasound by paramedics. These topics are both very prevalent discussions in all corners of the world for EMS providers. As our pre-hospital scope evolves, so must our pursuit of high quality, evidence based data in order to drive our decision making processes. These studies are just a handful of the current research about pre-hospital TXA use, and the suggestion of including pre-hospital medical providers in the use of point-of-care ultrasound examinations.

Medic Class Leadership | 1 | Introduction
Tuesday Jan 12, 2021
Tuesday Jan 12, 2021
Join us as we begin a new branch of our project, Medic Class Leadership.
In addition to our regular podcast episodes about evidenced based medicine and EMS culture, we are now discussing the complexities and challenges of leadership within Emergency Medical Services.
Leaders are found at every level of personnel in EMS; the current student, preceptor, instructor and training officer, new medics and EMTs, tenured personnel, and administration. We all hold leadership opportunities and influence that can truly make a positive impact on our culture. We at Medic Class Citizen want to identify those opportunities, and dive in to how we can make them meaningful, and get the most out of them.
Join us as we introduce our friend and colleague, Brian Johnson, who will be joining us on a regular basis for this branch of our project. Brian is a Lieutenant for John's Creek Fire Department located in Fulton County, Georgia. He serves as the EMS Coordinator, and has been a paramedic for nearly twenty years, serving various communities in the way of combination Fire and EMS. Brian has also taught as an EMS adjunct for over ten years in both paramedicine and EMT programs.

Join us in | 24 | as we discuss the sobering, yet incredibly important topic of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. We are joined by our guest experts Jess Roth and Faith Robinson, members of the anti-human trafficking organization "Out of Darkness."
Unfortunately, this manifestation of pure evil occurs hundreds of times a day in every major city throughout the world. As EMS providers, we need to arm ourselves with the assessment tools and the knowledge to provide protection and resources to these women and children. Unfortunately, more than 50% of commercially exploited victims come in to contact with EMS (or other forms of medical providers) everyday, and go undetected.
This episode marks the beginning of Medic Class Citizen's relationship with the organization Out of Darkness, and our efforts to support the education and identification to a make a life changing difference for these patients. This episode also provides an introduction to human trafficking so that EMS providers can be more aware, responsive, and engaged with saving the lives of the helpless.

| 22 | Med Legal for Medics (feat. EMS Director Craig Stanley, NRP)
Join us as we sit down with the Director of South Kingstown EMS, from Kingstown Rhode Island, Craig Stanley. Craig has a long history of EMS experience as a provider, a station officer, field training officer and EMS educator, service director, and legal consultant. Craig has specialized in med-legal for decades, taking his education to the next level through formal business education, and classes offered by the National Fire Academy with the goal to better educate field providers on the legal liabilities they face on a day to day basis, how to protect themselves, and to motivate them to just do the right thing.
Craig walks us through the logistics of our liability as paramedics, and provides data and recent figures of what he calls the top three "7 Figure Payouts." He explains the financial burden of legal representation for paramedics, and provides strong example of how we open ourselves up to liability, when to intervene for the sake of patient advocacy, and how to protect ourselves legally.
